The Revolutionists will not be televised … it will be dramatized!

The Revolutionists will not be televised. It will be dramatized – by Violet Surprise Theatre, whose mission is to vibrantly validate the voices of women. Written by Lauren Gunderson and directed by Iris Sowlat, The Revolutionists is a hysterical and historical (or, more accurately, herstorical) play that invites audiences to experience the French Revolution from a female perspective. So don’t pardon our French. Pardon our Frenchwomen and their très merciless treatment during the Reign of Terror.

Following the performance, there will be a talkback with the cast with refreshments provided by Skokie’s very own Kneads & Wants Bakery!

The Revolutionists will be presented at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, an Open and Affirming congregation located at 8013 Laramie Avenue in Skokie, on Saturday, April 18, at 5pm. Tickets will be $15 – seating is VERY limited, get your tickets now! (If this show sells out, a second show may be added at a later date.)

Parking is available in the lot directly east of the building, and the church is easily accessible by public transportation, located across from the Skokie Library just a few blocks west of the Oakton stop on the CTA Yellow Line. Wheelchair accessibility for the Lanford Fellowship Hall is through the Laramie Street entrance, including a drop-off area and ramps to navigate short stairs.

We are always grateful for donations of non-perishable food items for our Mini Pantry – they can be left by the Church Office next to the Laramie Street door.

Presented by Violet Surprise Theatre, sponsored by Skokie Heritage Museum, Downtown Skokie Merchants Collaborative, and St. Peter’s United Church of Christ
