Join the Skokie Public Library for an engaging and educational evening with award-winning Native American author Kim Sigafus as she presents We The Native People on Monday, March 23 at 6 pm.
During this presentation, Sigafus will explore the profound impact the Declaration of Independence and westward expansion had on Native communities across North America. Through storytelling and historical insight, she will share how Native people traditionally lived, worked the land, and raised their families before these changes reshaped their way of life.
The discussion will also highlight the cultural traditions that sustained Native communities, including traditional foods that were central to daily life. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about these culinary traditions and will receive a recipe to take home.
This thought-provoking program offers a deeper understanding of Native history, culture, and resilience through the perspective of an acclaimed Native author.
